State Enterprise «Drohobych Salt Factory» is considered to be one of the oldest continuously operating enterprises in Ukraine and Europe. Now, however, the physical condition of the Saltworks leaves much to be desired. Both its equipment and its buildings require modernisation, upgrade, and rehabilitation. What does the enterprise need, first and foremost? Bringing the production facilities in line with current standards, so that we can bring our produce onto the shelves of supermarkets and other food shop chains which demand quality certificates. We also need to team up with authorities on all levels to create proper conditions to preserve the enterprise and ensure its future development. The Saltworks of Drohobych has every chance to become a unique example of successful implementation of such revitalisation programmes which may then be implemented elsewhere in Ukraine, – says Oleh Petrenko, the Director of Drohobych Saltworks.
Below you can see the Saltworks Revitalisation Map which shows how exactly the existing territory can be used, which buildings require repair and restoration. All of this needs investments and investors who the management is now actively looking for.
In addition to this, we have also teamed up with specialists to engage renewable sources of energy which can be used to boil the brine and thus facilitate the production process.
